چکیده

In Bazhong City, Sichuan Province, China, top dieback symptoms were found on many pine trees (Pinus thunbergii Parl). The tips of old needles first turned grayish-green and then developed into brown bands in the field. Phylogenetic analysis concatenated ITS EF1-α indicated pathogen this disease as Diplodia neojuniperi. Additionally, effects temperature, pH medium mycelial growth also characterized. most favorable temperature level for are 25°C 8, respectively. optimal is PDA medium. To our knowledge, report D. neojuniperi causes Pinus thunbergii. Our results provide fundamental information monitoring preventing such future.

Sources of Diplodia pinea endophytic infections in Pinus patula and P. radiata seedlings in South Africa

Diplodia pinea, an opportunistic and latent pathogen, can significantly affect Pinus productivity worldwide. Despite being studied in South Africa for almost 100 years, the source of D. pinea inoculum responsible for seedling infection is unknown. The aim of this study was to determine the role of seed in vertical transmission of D. pinea and to investigate sources of inoculum leading to horizo...

Change in Water Status of Pinus thunbergii Parl. Inoculated with Species of Bursaphelenchus.

Maximum and minimum xylem pressure potentials of needles were measured to evaluate water status of Pinus thunbergii Parl. after inoculation with the virulent or avirulent populations of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus or B. mucronatus. In virulent B. xylophilus-inoculated pines, the water status changed abruptly and needle chlorosis occurred by day 29 after inoculation. Similar changes were not seen...

Geographic isolation of Diplodia scrobiculata and its association with native Pinus radiata.

Diplodia pinea (syn. Sphaeropsis sapinea) is a well-known latent pathogen of Pinus spp. with a worldwide distribution. As such, this fungus is native where pines are endemic in the northern hemisphere and it has been introduced into all countries of the Southern Hemisphere where pines are exotic. The newly described D. scrobiculata (formerly known as the B morphotype of D. pinea) is thought to ...

Regeneration of a Coastal Pine (Pinus thunbergii Parl.) Forest 11 Years after Thinning, Niigata, Japan

To examine the effects of thinning intensity on wind vulnerability and regeneration in a coastal pine (Pinus thunbergii) forest, thinning with intensities of 20%, 30% and 50% was conducted in December 1997; there was an unthinned treatment as the control (total 8 stands). We re-measured the permanent sites to assess the regeneration characteristics 11 years after thinning. In the 50% thinned st...
